MAX PREE - FINANCIAL PLANNER

My interest in money and finance started early, though it's not where I expected to end up. I originally set out to become a doctor and began a degree in biomedical science, but somewhere along the way I realised that spending the next seven years buried in study wasn't the path for me. Biomed did give me one lasting win though, it's where I met my partner Madi who unlike me actually had the brains to make it in medicine and is currently finishing her first year.

Wanting a backup plan, I paired my biomedical studies with a major in finance as part of a commerce degree, and that's where things clicked.

At 20, I started learning about the share market and began reading about financial wellbeing, and I began to see a career that combined two things I cared about - working with people and helping them make confident decisions with their money.

The more I spoke with financial planners, the clearer it became. This wasn't just about managing money; it was about giving people confidence and security about their future. That idea of making a real, tangible difference in someone's life is what drew me to medicine in the first place, and I realised I could find that same purpose here.

Away from the office, you'll usually find me on the ski slopes whenever I can manage it (or afford it). I'm a big sports fan across the board, but I pay closest attention to the footy (Hawthorn through and through) and the soccer (a long-suffering but loyal Arsenal supporter).

Max holds a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning from Kaplan Higher Education, a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Notre Dame and is an SMSF Specialist Adviser (SSA).
